Model description The 1955 Chrysler 300 hardtop was the first real muscle car, with 300 horsepower from its 331-c.i. Hemi V-8, 0-90 mph in 16.9 seconds, and a top speed of 130 mph. The company sold 1,725 of these homologation specials, and Chrysler dominated NASCAR.

Chrysler continued to use the wedge engine for the 1961 300G, and it used twin Carter Type AFB four-barrel carburetors located on opposing plenums, set at a specific 30-inch distance from the intake valve, which subsequently created 'sonic supercharging' at a given RPM level. The engine had a 10.1:1 compression and a forged steel crankshaft.
