Count the number of bolts in the pan. 13 bolts for the TH400/475 (3 speed) - pan is NOT square. 16 bolts for the TH700 (4 speed OD) - pan is nearly square. 17 bolts for the TH4L80E (4 speed OD) - pan is rectangular. The 400/475 is a strong tranny and was probably originally in your MH.

trkklr77. a factory setup has a piss poor hp output. a cam, headers and a better fuel system and you will have a great runner. The GM 454 TBI's have an adapter between the manifold and the TBI. This adapter allows you to use a stock quadrajet carb manifold and literally bolt the TBI on.

The cylinder head bolts require 80 ft.-lbs. of torque to join to the engine block, and the oil pan bolts to the engine block with 25 ft.-lbs. of torque. The exhaust manifold bolts to the cylinder head with 20 ft.-lbs.
