In 1986, they revised the KDX200 with lots of features from the KX125 motocrosser, and Kawi was one of the very few manufacturers offering a two-stroke enduro at the time. It was well loved by riders, so much so that even Kawasaki introduced a 250 of the KDX in 1991, most people preferred the 200 instead. As a '87, this is a "C" model.

The MSRP was $1600. 1986: Kawasaki gave the 200 a major makeover, again borrowing much from the KX125 motocrosser. It kept its air-cooled cylinder but got a power valve, which was called the Kawasaki Integrated Powervalve System. The bike had a front disc brake, but a drum in the rear. The rear suspension still had a rocker arm on top.

Engine The Kawasaki KDX200 is powered by a 2-stroke, single-cylinder piston reed valve engine. It had an air-cooled power mill when it first came out but changed to liquid cooling in 1988. Bore-stroke ratio is 66 x 58 mm (2.60 x 2.28 inches), while compression ratio is 7.9:1. Piston displacement is 198 cm3 (12.08 in3).
