From the info I've gathered the vvti being single turbo, having lighter internals, more displacement larger valves, and vvti/acis, will be much easier to push to roughly 500hp, but they cost thousands more. The non vvti, having forged internals and less compression, will handle more boost pressure.

Beyond that it hits a wall with modification, though, as there's much less aftermarket and it's much more complicated to go standalone or beef up the fuel system vs the non-vvti 1JZ-GTE. If you'd truly be happy with ~325-340whp forever, the VVTi is great, but beyond that it's all about the earlier ones. Jeff
