The line of "its a 427 crank in a 454 block", or the other way around means nothing. If it is a 427 crank, its a 427. If its a 454 crank its a 454.

If it was me I would stick in the lower 400 inch range. 454 is great for bragging numbers at a car show but it takes a lot of cylinder head to efficiently make it run. If you think about a big block Chevy, a 427 or 454 with oval port heads had a 265 cc intake runner.

It lists the 1971 and later 454 at 4.25 x 4.00. Is this a typo? If not, how could two engines with the same bore and stroke have different displacements?
