Looking to get a newer 4Runner Trd OR. Currently have a 2018 trd OR w/ kdss.. If you want that big of a lift, definitely don't mess with KDSS, not worth the trouble. I prefer the KDSS for the 90% of on-road driving I do, but for purely off-road, don't know how much it matters despite the 0.5-1" extra travel.

There's a lot of misinformation about KDSS. KDSS also allows for greater articulation off road as it allows the sway bar to move. Better handling on-road, better articulation offroad. The downside is if you want to lift the vehicle, it may throw the system off.

Have had a new 4runner for about three weeks with KDSS. I find that on road the KDSS helps eliminate body roll going around turns/ exit ramps at higher speeds, haven't had too much experience off road with it yet. My buddy has a 5th gen non KDSS and I have driven it plenty I can definitely tell a difference.
