The V6 or the V8? Looking online right now I've seen quite a few V8's that are cheaper than the V6's. I was wondering if other than the gas mileage factor is there another reason that they may be a little cheaper. Also I will not be pulling anything big at all so the towing factor is not part of my deciding factor on which engine to get.

Gas mileage is the same or better with the V8 when you tax it with armor, bumpers, winches, roof racks, and a lift. Stock for stock the V6 might get a couple mpg's better. Neither have a problem with any tire size. Not "the same engine". 4.0 is a good engine, had one in a Tacoma. The 4.7 is better for low RPM torque.

Toyota 4runner 4.7 V8 vs. 4.0 V6 How Do They Really Compare?
The newest gen 4runners have a v6 or v8 available. The v6 comes with a selectable 4wd like I am used to. 2wd when off, then 4hi & 4lo. The v8 apparently comes with full time 4wd. Anybody have any experience with the full time 4wd? Are there any real benefits? Drawbacks? I've never owned or even had any experience with full time 4wd.
