1968 AMC Other Description: Up for sale is my '68 Rebel SST. Runs, drives and stops but needs carb work. Actually, with some carb work and a little tuning, the car could become a driver. Has 343 2bbl engine/auto, and if you're familiar with these Rebels, you'll know that most of these came with 290s. Brakes are power drum.

1968 AMC Rebel Another new introduction by AMC in 1968 was the Rebel. A variety of 6-cylinder and V8 engines were available on the 114 inch wheelbase intermediate model. In addition to sedans, hardtops and wagons, the Rebel was the only AMC model to offer a convertible for this year which consequently was the last year for AMC convertibles.

This car is powerful and runs out great. I recently drove it from Houston to Biloxi, Mississippi for cruising the coast with no issues. Paint is not perfect but shows well. It's an older restoration so there are imperfection in the paint that doesn't show up in pictures. This isn't a show car but looks like one.

1968 AMC Rebel SST. After a record breaking loss in 1967, American Motors had a turn around in 1968 with an 11.8 million dollar profit and domestic sales topping at 268,428. In July, AMC sells the Kelvinator division to White Consolidated Industries. Rebel drops the Rambler badge for 1968, and the convertible is available in a lower priced 550.
