This is just my quick build for the Barnstormer challenge for Flite Fest this year. It's the Flamingo from Ernst Udet of WWI fame and WWII shame. It'll have a 1.25m wingspan and hopefully fly off just a power pack C. I'll be updating this part as I decide on more details, as of now I've just started the CAD process. View attachment 230746

Design and development. The U 12 was a conventional, single-bay biplane of wooden construction with the wings braced by large I-struts. The pilot and instructor or passenger sat in tandem, open cockpits. The U 12 proved extremely popular and sold well, due in no small part to Ernst Udet's spectacular aerobatics routines while flying the aircraft.

In 1925 the maiden flight of the U-12 took place at Schleißheim with Ernst Udet at the controls. In the following years the Udet-Flamingo became the standard training aircraft of the German Commercial Pilot School (Deutsche Verkehrsfliegerschule) at the Schleißheim, This airworthy replica was finished in 2004 and is now part of the Deutsches Museum - Flugwerft Schleissheim collection.
