Its true that it has a lot less power than a 4.0 but the 3.0 feels good enough for me. I am upgrading from an old Ranger 94 2.3L 4cyl manual and it was much much slower. The reason I went to a 3.0 instead of a 4.0 is flat out gas mileage. My Dad has a 2000 4.0 V6 4x2 Auto and his truck is a gas gussler.
