The orange light thing is the car recharging the 12v battery, yes. The thing is, if it has to do that 10 times in a row (ie the car has recharged the 12V 10 times since last startup) it assumes the 12V is faulty and won't ever auto-recharge it again, drastically reducing "time parked until dead" (it will always recharge it while driving).

Jumping the battery got the car started but it still needed a charge 😠. Since the 12v battery is a lithium battery my car battery charger wouldn't work 😩. I had to go for a long drive since apparently that is the only way to charge the 12v battery 😎. No idea how long you can leave the car but 3 weeks is pretty short 😬. Can't go.
