I have a Gen 3. I started without bar end weights with Bark Busters. Too buzzy for my hands, added the stock bar weights back on. Still buzzy but much more livable. Of course, off roading with it when you drop it and the first point of contact are the bar ends. They are bent to hell, but still haven't stripped the threads out yet anyway.

Did the same damn thing to my 3rd gen. Broke off both bark busters within the first 10 minutes offroading. I'd never ridden off-road on a motorcycle before, and so, of course, the very first thing I tried to do was donuts. I'm still riding around with broken remains of the OEM hand guards. #1 · Sep 27, 2021 I'm in the process of changing out a few bits after my first drop on my 2022 KLR. Fortunately only cosmetic damage. Number one was to toss the factory handguards and install the BarkBuster 2 point handguards with the end weights kit and Storm guards. Overall install was really smooth.

On the left side you'll need to remove the metal hoop that is between the triple tree clamp and the switches because that's exactly where the BB clamp needs to go. I use barkbusters on both my KLR's (Acerbis on one and Cycra Pro-bends on the other) and have found the vibes to be significantly reduced BUT I also installed decent bars ('cause the stock steel ones have the resilience of partially cooked pasta) at the same time.
