I'd not be surprised if Koestler are still just using stocks of many parts from the final, original Maico era. I think there have been 4 different 'owners' of Maico since then. Not counting the Brit mob that claimed to be Maico (Maico International) , with "'F1' tech soon to come, to revolutionize the bikes".. 2023 Maico 700. To post, please.
MAICO Engines 2022 Maico engine 500
If you have an old Husaberg-Frame with chain on the right side, you can try to fit this engine in. There is a guy on youtube, who fits a 700cc in an old Husabergframe. I drove a 700 Maico Supermoto from Köstler. The problem is, that you normaly need a bigger exhaust because of the 700ccm. Köstler deliver the 700cc with the 500cc exhaust.

The other was an ATK import with an ATK title (they put an ATK sticker over the VIN and filed off the Maico name from the cylinder and clutch cover). Otherwise, they are the same. The graphics were replaced by previous owner on the ATK version but I put my own graphics on it that say Maico now. The Koestler import has the original Koestler.

The ATK 700 was the Maico 685 built by Koestler. The Zabel 700 is a completely different beast and is only sold as an engine. It was never sold by ATK and as of today ATK has not imported a Maico 685 nor sold an ATK 700 in 10 years. Then came "Maico Interna onal" from the UK which s ll be cause for confusion to people to this day.

Actually, these Maicos are not from Koestler in Germany they are being built completely in the UK by Maico International. These are two seperate companies and Maico International is having their bikes shipped in here. One of the things they said is that they will have a good supply of parts.
