#1 · May 4, 2017 Looking to get my first diesel. I looking to spend around 50-55k. It would be a daily driver and tow my 10,000 lb toy hauler. I'm just curious on what you guys think I should invest in. Do I get the L5P or LML and save some cash. I'm afraid of the dead pedal everyone talks about.

#1 · Jul 20, 2021 Hello, I've relied on this forum for solid advice for a while but am just now posting. Anyway, I currently have a 'stock 16 LML with 47k on it. I love the truck, and it does everything I need it to which is mainly pulling my 5th wheel and dump trailer.

Deleted, air bagged, tuned, lifted, wheels, 116k on the clock, etc. I have an opportunity to purchase a '21 L5P LTZ, almost the exact same truck just newer. They are giving me a ridiculous amount for my truck. Like not too far off of what I bought it for.

Currently looking for my first Duramax, also first truck in general. At the mid to high 30's price point I have found 15&16 LML's around 150k miles as well as 17 L5P's closer to 190k. Is the newer engine (and generally better in most aspects from my research) worth getting with higher miles on it? Also, a lot of LML's I have found.

I got my L5P last July for $56.9k (plus fees and taxes), and at the time I saw comparable '16s going for only a couple thousand less. My brand new truck came with the full factory warranty, and the CP4 failure is no longer a concern (Denso HPFP and in-tank lift pump). Unless the LML is going for $35-40k, I think the L5P is an easy choice.

LML or L5P? I'm in the market to buy my first diesel. currently i own and 09 5.3 and just need something a little bigger. Either truck i buy is going to get deleted and tuned (longevity). Both trucks would also be getting a lift pump just to be safe. For the price should I try for an L5P or get a LML?

Hands down stock the L5P, tuned LML's are great, cheap to tune, lots of parts available, but with L5P being tunable now, I would buy a L5P and wait out the high cost to tune it while driving a new/fully warrantied truck. As someone who has tuned a ton of stuff like Rob has, hands down the L5P is a tough package to beat, even stock

#1 · Jan 1, 2019 I currently have a 2012 LML with 47k miles that is out of warranty. I've had it in the shop 4 times since June 2018 for CEL. Every time it was due to the emissions. Obviously, the truck is not my daily driver. I use it mostly for towing and the occasional trip to the hardware store or when I need to haul something.
