Over 22 Years on Vortex, Mk7.5 Golf R. I haven't been around for a while but today is rainy and I came by. My profile says I joined in June 2001. Time flies. I had a Jetta VR6 back then. I soon stepped up to a 2001.5 Passat GLX V6 6 sp. When that lease ended I went to Audis. I had three of those until 2018 when the Golf R 6 mt got my attention.

The Mk7 Golf R DSG transmission options are said to be slightly more reliable than the Mk6 gearbox. However, some slight harshness when cold is a possibility, but this should soon go away as the transmission warms.. The Mk6 Golf came with a 10 year rust warranty while the Mk7 came with a 12 year one. We are not sure if Volkswagen offered.

#1 For mk7s, what year do you think is the best value for a used or CPO GTI now? There is a balance: the older you go, the less expensive, but the higher chance of more costly repairs. And 2018 has the longer warranty (which is priced in). I'm thinking a 2016 CPO might be a good balance.lots of depreciation but CPO still gives you 2/24 warranty.
