The MT-10 is a more comfortable ride in my opinion, and way better for taking a passenger. MT09 + 1-up = MT10 as the joke goes. Buddy of mine has put over 60k miles on his 2018 MT10 and rides it practically year round in our snowy icy landscape here. Watching him ride the wheels off the thing has sorely tempted me to get one myself.

The MT09SP is $14700CAD while the MT10 is $17800CAD, the MT10SP is $21600CAD, therefore the MT09SP does make sense if you're into saving $3100CAD or put that money toward full exhaust and tune. I saw a MT09 Turbo online make 210HP, that's impressive. Holy shit, i just looked up the 2021 mt09.

These old 2020 posts about the well-known deficiencies with the 2nd-gen MT-09 make a good case for why the 3rd-gen MT-09 (the SP model especially) is such a good value. I have zero desire to own a MT-10 - a $13k bike ($15k+ out-the-door) with 145bhp.

MT10 2022 vs MT09 2021 ? Both new models have been released and I'll be out of my restricted licence soon. I'm currently driving a MT07 (restricted so ~47hp). I've been a competitive dirt rider for some years, so I'd say I'm quite decent at driving a motorcycle. Both are a huge jump of power, coming from my restricted MT07.

Compared to the Euro naked liter bikes, the MT10 gives up some in performance..but not a lot and usually for $4000 - $5000 less. That difference could be meaningless depending on the rider. In fact, the difference between an 09 and a 10 can be meaningless depending on riding skills.

Awesome yes, just not necessarily from an engineering sense. Ramping up damping and spring rates makes the new MT-09 accelerate harder and wheelie less. The 3.5-inch TFT dash is laid out really well, and the menus are intuitive. High marks aside from the bar tachometer, which works fine but isn't any fun to look at.

Personally, I had a few reasons for going an MT-09 over an MT-10. First up was price. 9k MSRP vs 13k MSRP is a pretty big jump. The cost to own is more, too, with the MPG being significantly lower (about 25%) plus another cylinder to take care of. Lastly, I just like the looks of the MT-09 better.
