So right now with hemi MDS you can get about 26 mpg highway. The 3.6 gets at most 22 mpg highway. Honestly the dumbest thing ram did was put the 3.6l in the 1500. Edit: 26 mpg if you tuck up behind a semi. I've got a 2014 1500 with the 5.7 and the 8 speed auto and I'm averaging right around 20 mpg. I have a hemi sport, and it is 100% worth it.

The 5.7 is a great engine above 3000rpm but 'feels' like a V6 below that speed. I had a 3.6 2012 200 with the 6 speed auto and it was almost too much engine for that car, hence why I was looking for a Ram 3.6 back in 2014 but it was a new combo then so prices were at a premium unless I ordered new.

If you look at a HP/torque dyno chart of a stock 5.7 Hemi, you'll see this motor makes far more torque at even 1200rpm than the Pentastar can make at any RPM!
