It looks as though a spec'd out 4500 would have about 8000lbs payload, and 5500 would be around that 10,500lb range. I feel the 4500 would fit the bill and should leave me with 3500-4000lbs payload (likely more over estimating deck) available with an outfitted welding deck on there. Which should be pleanty for our camper and gooseneck respectively.

Ram 4500/5500 seem to have a ton of payload available and though it would be somewhat more expensive, I would love to have the hauler bed. My issue with the Ram's is the chassis cabs look like they have derated the engines to a lower HP and torque ratings. Down to 325/750 instead of 385/920; that's a lot of pulling power to give up.
