The fame for Ken Miles after Ford's victory over Ferrari at Le Mans 1966 was tragically short-lived. Two months later on August 17, 1966, he was killed test driving a Ford J-car at a California raceway. The car broke into pieces and burst into flames upon impact. Miles was 47. Still, even in death, Ken Miles was an unsung racing hero.

The Miles tragedy substantially affected the J-Car program, but it was not tossed. The last changes to the J-Car shaped the birth of the successful Ford GT40 Mk.IV. Eight more chassis were constructed, and many races were conquered. The model you acquired is a replica of the car used in testing by Chris Amon and Bruce McLaren at Le Mans in 1966.
